10/10/2020 Why Does My Download Speed Drop
Torrent speeds drop to zero, then reappear, thenn drop, etc (Raspberry Pi) - posted in Troubleshooting and Problems: Hello, Im running a Raspberry Pi (Rasbian). Ive set up the torrent client Deluge. Ive also set up openVPN, using a.ovpn file created from your configuration page. When openVPN is NOT running on the Raspberry Pi, Deluge runs fine with consistent download speeds. Believe it or not, this is common. If you're like me, you have a fast fiber, DSL or cable modem hookup to the Internet, directly hooked to your computer. The slowdown is caused by the queues at your ISP (or your modem). The ISP limits your Internet speed either at the modem, or at the router assigned to your modem.

Specifically my computer has been having terrible drops in download speed. I'm wired straight into the mobo and modem / router thing. Usually I'm running a smooth 115 - 125 MB/S which is what I'm paying for. Lately though I'm dropping down to around 2-5 mb/s, it's really bad. There's no issues with wifi except for when we have all the devices going and the internet stops, I was told we're just using all the bandwith in that case and quick restart on the router fixes it.
Things I've tried and tested - Ran virus scans with Malwarebytes and Windows defender Different ethernet slot on router Factory resetting router Using the same cord I use on my desktop and testing it with an older laptop, I was getting 2.6 mbs, plugged it into laptop and it pulled 40 mb/s. Uninstalled my internet drivers and reinstalled, fixed it for a bit but soon reverted to the low speeds. When searching for a fix on my own I came across a suggestion of releasing, renewing, and flushing my DNS. Fixed it for a bit but soon enough I was back below 5mb/s. Finally I had comcast out today, they looked at it, suggested maybe we're again flooding our bandwith too much suggested that maybe we upgrade our package. Here's the do list - - Provide us with the make and model of your router Its a Wireless Gateway 3 from Xfinity comcast model # DPC3941T - Provide us with the make and model of your modem It's a 2 in 1 machine, check above. - Provide us with the exact specifications of your PC (if applicable) including: - Make and model of motherboard ASUS Z97-A ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboards Z97-A - Make and model of power supply EVGA SuperNOVA 850G2 80PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V/EPS12V 850W Power Supply 220-G2-0850-XR - Make and model of USB or PCI Wifi adapter Built into MOBO - Operating system and driver version Windows 10 drivers are 10.0.14393.0 I believe - You will also need to post your ISP and connection type*. Comcast xfinity - You will also need to post the exact number of devices connected to your router (this includes tablets, smart phones, laptops, and desktop PCs) as some routers can only handle a specific number of devices at a time. One PC connected via ethernet One xbox connected via ethernet One laptop via wifi 4 mobile devices It's very rare for all to be using bandwith at once though. - Post any and all error messages you are getting from your ISP or Windows itself - Make and model of switches and how many ports are on each switch - I don't really understand. but I believe switches are the ethernet slots? Which we have 4 of them on the machine, 2 in use 2 out of use. If you need more information here please let me know. - How many PCs and laptops are connected to the network One PC connected via ethernet One xbox connected via ethernet One laptop via wifi 4 mobile devices - Whether or not a NAS (Network Attached Storage) or regular server is connected to the network Don't believe so, if someone could explain I'd appreciate it. - Whether or not a Wifi router is connected to the network and/or switch Yes it's xfinity's 2 in 1 device, modem and router with wifi - If you are using the internal LAN connection on your motherboard, a USB dongle, or external PCI card I'm plugged straight into the motherboard which is a ASUS Z97-A ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboards Z97-A Please if there's more information needed let me know and I'll get it to you all asap. I'm at a lost of what to do now guys, pretty sure it's my computer at this point, any and all help is greatly appreciated.
